Emma Dean + Lynton Tapp are best of friends but couldn’t be more different when it comes to cooking & personalities..
MasterChef Australia winner, Emma Dean’s passion for food began in the paddocks and kitchen of her regional Victoria childhood home. Her parents instilled a love of growing and cooking farm-fresh produce and from her youngest years she was taught to knead bread, grow vegies, and collect freshly-laid eggs.
Emma’s beautiful cooking style is inspired by a combination of her regional upbringing and her passion for urban foraging and seasonal produce, resulting in dishes that mix classic ingredients with the more unusual and adventurous.
Emma prides herself on using local produce which stems from her family background and upbringing with her mum growing up on a dairy farm, and her extended family being significantly involved in the regional farming community.
Lynton Tapp grew up in the Roper River region of the Northern Territory, on a cattle station with his parents and two sisters. Inspired by living in the outback, Lynton developed a love for producing his own food, cooking over a campfire and learning about native Australian produce.
Following his successful experience on MasterChef Australia, Lynton packed his bags and moved to Melbourne to pursue a career as a chef. He crafted his skills in a number of restaurants over the years and attributes a lot of what he has learnt to his mentor and good mate Matt Germanchis.
Lynton’s culinary journey from camp cook to a classically trained chef has inspired his decadent Australasian flavour palette. With a unique range of recipes spanning from classic home cookery to smoky outback BBQ with a mix of exotic South-East Asian and everything in between, Lynton creates his dishes with a technical edge and a focus on quality Australian produce.
